Guangde Tu, PhD, Senior Editor, Springer Nature, China
Guangde has been the Editor of BMC Anesthesiology since 2016 and is based in the Shanghai office. Before joining BMC, Guangde received his BSc in theoretical physics from Nanjing University, China and his PhD in quantum chemistry from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. After graduation, he returned to China as an assistant researcher investigating the growth of composite membranes for water processing, before moving on to study the growth of solid tumors using computer simulation. His interest then turned to medical science and he worked as medical editor for a number of years before joining BMC as an editor of the BMC series.

Sanchit Ahuja, MD, Anesthesia Institute & Outcomes Research Consortium, Cleveland Clinic, USA 
Dr. Ahuja is a physician-scientist and expert in Anesthesiology. He completed his medical training in India, followed by residencies in Anesthesiology and Critical Care. After moving to the U.S., he completed fellowships in Clinical Research and Regional Anesthesia at the Cleveland Clinic. His research focuses on outcomes, perioperative hemodynamics, organ injuries, and anesthesia for thoracic procedures, among other areas. He is involved in major clinical trials and has published over 34 papers in high-impact journals. Dr. Ahuja is a member of multiple international societies and serves as an editor and reviewer for several scientific journals.
Aboud AlJa’bari, MD, MBBS, DESA, University of Jordan, Jordan
Prof Aboud AlJa’bari did his fellowship in France and Switzerland in Cardiothoracic anesthesia as well as in Regional anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and he is now a Consultant in Cardiothoracic, Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Prof AlJa’bari has published more than 30 articles in well-known anesthesia journals, and he has also been an international speaker in anesthesia conferences like ESRA. His research interests focus on anesthesia for all varieties of surgeries.

Ashraf A. Dahaba is an emeritus professor of Anesthesiology at Suez Canal University, Egypt; Former guest Professor at Medical University of Graz, Austria; Adjunct Professor at The Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an, China; Adjunct Professor at Zhe Jiang University, Hang Zhou, China and Consultant of Anesthesia at General Medical Council, United Kingdom.
Prof Dahaba is the lead researcher and first author of 55 top impact factor publications in depth of anesthesia monitoring such as Bispectral Index (BIS) and different modalities of Neuromuscular monitoring.

John Doyle, MD, PhD, Cleveland Clinic, USA
Dr. Doyle recently retired from the Cleveland Clinic's Department of General Anesthesiology, where he also served as Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He earned his MD in 1982 and PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 1986 from the University of Toronto. He holds both Canadian and American anesthesia certifications. Dr. Doyle specializes in ENT anesthesia, difficult airway management, and medical technology. He co-edited Anesthesia for Otolaryngologic Surgery (2012) and Clinical Airway Management: An Illustrated Case-Based Approach (2017), both published by Cambridge University Press.

Patrice Forget, MD, PhD, University of Aberdeen, UK
Professor Patrice Forget, M.D. Ph.D., has worked as Clinical Professor in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in Belgium, and as President of the Belgian Pain Society. In 2019, he has been appointed as Clinical Chair in Anaesthesia at the University of Aberdeen (UK), and Honorary Consultant at the NHS Grampian.
He is involved in clinical research, focused on mainly pain, perioperative epidemiology and clinical pharmacology. For the last ten years, as principal investigator and/or national coordinator, he published more than 150 articles, letters or editorials. He is the Chair of the PANDOS (Pain AND Opioids after Surgery) ESAIC Research Group (European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care).

Alexandre Joosten, MD, PhD, The University of California, Los Angeles, USA
Dr. Alexandre Joosten graduated from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2008 and trained in Anesthesiology at CHU Brugmann, graduating in 2013. He then worked in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia at Erasme Hospital, Brussels, before completing a research fellowship at the University of California, Irvine in 2014. His research focuses on perioperative hemodynamic optimization using closed-loop fluid management systems. Dr. Joosten is an Associate Editor for Anesthesia & Analgesia and Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing, and a reviewer for over 50 journals. He is also the chair of the ESAIC Subcommittee on Monitoring, Ultrasound, and Equipment and is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at UCLA.

Jose Navas, MD, Jackson Memorial Hospital, USA
Dr. Navas was born and raised in Venezuela, where he attended medical school at the University of Zulia. He then obtained the degree of Anesthesiologist at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, followed by fellowships of Critical Care Medicine and Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the University of Miami. He joined the reviewer board of BMC Anesthesiology in 2019, and became Senior Editorial Board Member in 2021. His main research focus is clinical research mostly oriented to the area of critical care medicine and post-operative outcomes after cardiac surgery.

Laura Pasin, University Hospital of Padua, Italy 
Dr Pasin graduated from both the University of Padua’s (Italy) School of Medicine and Surgery and the School of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (2010). She worked as a consultant at San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan and moved to the University Hospital of Padua in 2016, where she actually works.
She is the author of more than 100 publications (articles, abstracts, book chapters) and she has participated as a speaker at several national and international meetings. Her main fields of research are haemodynamic monitoring, haemodynamic optimization and mechanical ventilation.  

Fuat Saner, Priv Doz, University Duisburg-Essen, Germany
Dr. Fuat Saner graduated from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz (Germany) and completed his medical training at the Horst-Schmidt- Kliniken Hospital in Wiesbaden. His clinical and scientific interests focus on perioperative care for patients with acute and chronic liver failure and end-stage liver disease requiring liver transplantation. After moving to Essen, he became Director of the Surgical Critical Care Unit at the Department of General-, Visceral- and Transplant Surgery at Medical Center University Duisburg-Essen. His current research investigates the causes of hemodynamic instability during after liver transplantation, coagulation disorder in end stage liver disease and infection post liver transplantation. Dr. Saner has published widely on these topics and has given many national and international presentations on liver transplantation and the management of cirrhotic patients. He is active in the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE, from 5/2018-5/2022 President) and in the national Critical Care society (DIVI) as chair in the liver failure group.

Aalap Shah, MD, University of California Irvine Medical Center, USA

Dr. Aalap Shah is an experienced anesthesiologist with expertise in general anesthesiology. He completed his residency at the University of Washington and a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Certified in Lean and Six Sigma, Dr. Shah focuses on optimizing perioperative healthcare, enhancing physician autonomy, and improving patient outcomes. His research interests include nerve injury, quality improvement, clinical decision support, and sustainability in anesthesia. He has published in multiple journals and served as the Director of Clinical Informatics. Dr. Shah has also taught and reviewed for numerous journals, joining the Editorial Board in 2021.

Savino Spadaro, PhD, University of Ferrara, Italy

Dr Spadaro Savino is associate professor at the Department of translational medicine at University of Ferrara, based at the “Sant'Anna Hospital" in Ferrara (Italy). Dr. Spadaro completed his Ph.D in Translational medicine at University of Foggia, Italy. His current research focuses on mechanical ventilation, respiratory monitoring in anesthesia and intensive care, and perioperative medicine.   He collaborates with the SIAARTI, ESAIC and other international societies to promote the knowledges in the field of anesthesia and intensive care.  He joined the Editorial Board of BMC Anesthesiology in 2016 and has been a Senior Editorial Board Member since 2020.
